Every Litter Bit (Picked Up) Helps
July 3, 2008
You may have noticed that the City of Port St. Lucie has gotten a lot cleaner in the last year. A recent city-wide litter survey conducted by the Public Works Department revealed a dramatic 40 percent drop off in the amount of litter. City officials attribute the reduction to a number of initiatives and programs administered in conjunction with the city’s Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee.

Citizens Asked to Participate in Public Meeting About Crosstown Parkway Bridge on July 10

The City of Port St. Lucie will hold a public meeting about the Crosstown Parkway bridge over the St. Lucie River on Thursday, July 10 beginning at 6 p.m. in the city’s Community Center on Airoso Boulevard.
City Offers Free Lunch on July 11 to Celebrate National Parks and Recreation Month

The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce July as Parks and Recreation Month, and is inviting the public to a free lunch at Veterans’ Memorial Park on July 11 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.  The first 500 people will receive a hot dog, drink and bag of chips.

Road Closures for July 4th Independence Day Celebration

On Friday, July 4, the City of Port St. Lucie will close Veterans’ Memorial Parkway for the annual FreedomFest Parade. Drivers are asked to note the time and locations of the road closures and to contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 878-2277 with any questions.  The parade starts at 10 a.m.

Council Approves Cost-Of-Living Increase for Trash Hauler Waste Pro

The Port St. Lucie City Council last week authorized the City’s trash hauler, Waste Pro, to increase the cost of residential garbage pickup from $19.30 a month to $19.89.  Commercial rates will increase from $6.03 a month to $6.20.  The need for an increase was generated by increased operational expenses such as fuel costs for trucks.
