Citizens Asked to Participate in Public Meeting About Crosstown Parkway Bridge on July 10

The City of Port St. Lucie will hold a public meeting about the Crosstown Parkway bridge over the St. Lucie River on Thursday, July 10 beginning at 6 p.m. in the City’s Community Center on Airoso Boulevard.

This project was known as the Third East-West River Crossing Study, and a kickoff meeting was held for this project in June 2003.  However, to comply with new federal requirements, additional work had to be completed prior to continuation of a Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study, and a new public meeting is required.

This PD&E study will:

  1. Evaluate the need for extending Crosstown Parkway over the North Fork of the St. Lucie River;
  2. Evaluate alternative alignments for the river crossing;
  3. Analyze the potential impacts resulting from the proposed river crossing;
  4. Examine ways to avoid and minimize those impacts; and
  5. Coordinate closely with regulatory agencies throughout the study process.

This meeting is being conducted to inform the public of the project’s purpose and status, to discuss anticipated impacts, and to provide an opportunity for community participation.  It will be conducted with an “open house” format from 6 to 7:30 p.m., with a formal presentation from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Information available at this meeting will include details of the study process, preliminary project information, and project schedule.  Representatives from the City of Port St. Lucie, the Florida Department of Transportation and the consulting team will address questions and receive comments.

Property owners, residents, and interested parties are encouraged to attend to learn more about this important project.  The Port St. Lucie Community Center is at 2195 S.E. Airoso Boulevard (across from City Hall).
