City to assist in First Annual Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup
The Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful Committee (KPSLB) is looking for volunteers to assist at the first annual Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup on Saturday, July 19. As part of its broad-based efforts to improve the city’s natural environment, the Committee will participate in the event, which is being run by the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast (MIATC).
The KPSLB Committee is seeking volunteers, service organizations, boating clubs and volunteers to help make the cleanup day a success. The cleanup begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 12:30 p.m. Each volunteer will receive an event t-shirt and an identification flag to display on their vessel during the cleanup. Teams and individuals can choose any area to clean. Registration at the event is available.
With sponsorship from the Florida Inland Navigation District, MIATC is organizing the event to clean waterways in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties.
Many volunteers are needed to clean more than 125 miles of waterways, and in Port St. Lucie, Rivergate Veteran’s Park Boat Ramp will serve as the event headquarters.
Registration forms are available on the MIATC Web site at www.miatc.com. For more information please contact Vera Locke, (772) 692-7599.
