2008 FreedomFest Promises Patriotic Fun for ‘People of All Ages'

The City of Port St. Lucie Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce FreedomFest 2008.  This extraordinary Independence Day Celebration will take place on Friday, July 4, at Lyngate Park.

The day’s events will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the FreedomFest Mile Run followed by the Annual Elks Club Parade.  The parade route will move northward along Veteran’s Memorial Parkway and arrive at the entrance to Lyngate Park.

Freedomfest ends with the area's largest fireworks display (weather permitting).

Following the parade, spectators in the park will be treated to a variety of music, food and activities for all ages.  There will be a variety of local live entertainment such as; The Showcase Band and Attractive Nuisance.  The children’s area will play host to Mr. Twist, free face painting, free crafts for kids, a magic show by Shun-Tel The Magician and much more. 

There also will be wristbands for sale for amusement rides. There will be a family area for all ages to enjoy activities with Prime Time Entertainment.  At 9 p.m., the area’s largest fireworks display that will light up the night sky (weather permitting). As it has been for 19 years, FreedomFest will be a full day of food, fun and good old-fashioned American Independence Day Spirit for everyone.

Special Note: Fireworks of any kind are not permitted in Veterans’ Park or anywhere along the parade route on Veterans Memorial Parkway.   The Port St. Lucie Police Department will confiscate all personal fireworks.  Please note: pets will not be permitted in the park; your cooperation is appreciated.
