Frequently Asked Addressing Questions

Can I choose my address?

No. Addresses are assigned based on an established addressing standard.

Can I request to change my address?

The request can be made, but we must verify that change will be possible. Addresses might be changed if a corner lot address has been assigned considering a particular roadway, yet the orientation of the residential front door faces an adjacent roadway. Addresses may also be changed upon request if a compelling addressing issue arises and numerical sequencing is permitted.

When are new addresses assigned?

Once the site plan or plat for a new residential or commercial property has been submitted to and approved by Planning and Zoning and City Council and recorded with the County, the address may be requested. Completion of an addressing assignment depends upon the size of the requested project.
