History

The vision for a neighborhood park in the southwest area of the City began in 2002 as part of the City’s “Parks Project Improvement Program & Six-Year Development Plan.” In early November 2017, the public was invited to participate in a community survey to name the new park. By majority vote, it was named "Woodland Trails Park."

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on December 2, 2017, on a 13.58-acre parcel located between Edinburgh Drive and SW Calmar Avenue. Engineering and design services for the park were provided by Felix Associates of Florida, Inc. and Culpepper & Terpening, with construction starting in early December 2017. The Grand Opening Ceremony took place on June 16, 2018, with the project budget funded through the City's waste recycling program. The park is now maintained by the Parks Roving Crew.
