Professional Standards Division

The Professional Standards Division is comprised of the Internal Affairs Section, Property & Evidence, Staff Services Section, and Accountability & Analysis Section.

The Internal Affairs Section provides a systematic, objective, and impartial method of investigating complaints of improper behavior that may violate department or city rules and regulations by police officers or other personnel.

The Staff Services Section is comprised of Training, Recruiting and Background Investigation Units. The Training Unit is responsible for coordinating the initial and continuing training provided to sworn and civilian personnel. The Recruiting and Background Investigation Unit is responsible for recruiting qualified officers and assuring that a thorough background investigation is completed on all Police Department Staff Members.

Working hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CALEA Accreditation Public Comment Portal

The Port St. Lucie Police Department prides itself on being professional accredited at both the state and national level. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide the agency with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence in policing. CALEA, the national accrediting body, maintains a public access portal that provides an opportunity for public comments, commendations, and other information regarding the agency’s quality of service or other information relevant to the accreditation process.
