About this division

We are proud to have received the prestigious designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to be a self-regulating agency.

The Utility Engineering Division provides engineering-based customer service to all existing and new commercial customers and provides internal engineering services to the utilities operation group. This division actively administers and monitors all aspects of the development and construction of commercial, multi-family residential, and new subdivision projects. They also review and approve project plans, initiate and process commercial service agreements, inspect construction, and oversee the process of the City's ownership and operation of the newly constructed utility facilities. Commercial tenant construction (i.e., existing buildings) and interceptors for grease, hair, lint, etc., are also approved by this division.

Utility Engineering locates, identifies, and marks the utility systems' underground drinking water, wastewater (sanitary sewer), and reclaimed water assets before any construction contractor digs into the ground. This activity is required by the Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act per Chapter 556, Florida statutes.
