City of PSL Hurricane Milton Advisory #7
Published on October 10, 2024
The City of Port St. Lucie is dedicated to ensuring the safety of its citizens, and we ask for the cooperation of residents in this effort. City staff is focusing on recovery operations and closely collaborating with St. Lucie County officials and community partners to provide necessary updates.
The precautionary boil water notice has been lifted, as the City’s water treatment plants and water distribution system did not experience any issues during the storm. Some lift stations run on generator power, and additional resources are sent to stations without power to ensure continual operation.
Utility technicians are being dispatched to resident’s homes to pump down grinder sewer systems for those without power. Residents are reminded to conserve water until power is restored. If you are experiencing a water or sewer issue, please call Connection Support at 772-873-6400.
Roadways: The City’s priority is to clear roadways to allow safe passage for first responders. Public Works staff and contractors are clearing vegetative debris and other materials from the main roads. Crews are actively working to remove road blockages and hazardous trees to ensure safe travel for vehicles.
Residents can help by staying off the roads until they are deemed safe. After the storm, these hazards remain:
- Downed power lines: Stay clear from damaged power lines on the ground or dangling overhead.
- Floodwaters: Stay out of floodwaters. It may contain harmful bacteria, chemicals, sharp objects or live wires. If you must drive, don’t drive through floodwater; seek an alternate route.
- Traffic lights outages: If you must drive somewhere, remember to treat an out-traffic signal as a four-way stop, and be sure to make eye contact with drivers at the intersection.
- Damaged buildings: Do not enter a damaged building until local authorities say it’s safe.
The following are additional updates for Thursday, Oct. 10 at 11 a.m. The next advisory is expected to be released on Thursday afternoon unless an additional advisory is required.
Outages: Approximately 25% of Port St. Lucie residents are without power as of 9 a.m.
Customers can report outages via phone, app or website:
According to FPL employees and contractors are working to restore service to residents in Port St. Lucie and St. Lucie County. Restoration priorities are as follows: Emergency situations, power lines down, FPL facilities and substations, critical institutions (hospitals, Emergency Service stations), grids with highest population, restoration to all.
Damage Assessment Teams: City teams are working to assess damage throughout the City.

The City is sharing on behalf of the Southern Grove Community Development District (CDD), which manages the stormwater system in Tradition: “The Southern Grove CDD is continuously monitoring the situation with the storm and doing everything within its control to manage water levels within the District, including pumping down the system. On Wednesday, we have experienced historically intense rainfall events which will result in the system taking longer to return to normal levels. We will continue to communicate additional information as it becomes available.”
