City offering grants to help businesses improve building facades
Published on March 19, 2025
What: The City of Port St. Lucie is launching a Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program, which will provide funding to assist business owners in the restoration, renovation or improvement of commercial façades. Funding is provided through a federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
Business owners can receive up to $10,000 through a matching grant, with the program paying 50% of the improvement costs and the business owners paying the other 50%. For example, if a business owner wishes to purchase new doors and an awning, and the total project cost is $20,000, the business owner can apply for a grant and be reimbursed $10,000.
The program provides financial assistance to property owners of commercial buildings, or tenants, to improve the appearance of their storefronts. This can help business owners enhance the visual appeal in a commercial district, stimulating economic activity and attracting customers by improving the overall aesthetics of the area.
When: The application period opens March 4, 2025 at 9 a.m. and closes April 8, 2025 at 5 p.m. A public information session will be held Feb. 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd., Port St. Lucie.
Where: Businesses must be located within the City’s official CDBC Census Tracts to be eligible for funding. To determine if their business is located within one of the Census tracts, business owners can search this interactive online map: link.cityofpsl.com/CDBGMap.
Why: The City of Port St. Lucie is committed to enhancing the vitality of our commercial areas. The Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program will support local businesses in revitalizing their storefronts and creating a more welcoming and inviting atmosphere for customers alike.
